Muslim Iron Man George Sorros
Are there problems in the world? Do you think the world could be better? Do you think suffering could be alleviated?
Yes. Of course.
But rather than blaming governments, the elite, the corporations, and everyone else for problems, blame yourself. These abstract entities will continue to do whatever they are doing whether you exist or not. Don't worry about that which you have no power over. What are YOU doing to solve the issues of the world?
You might volunteer at an animal shelter. You might volunteer at a retirement home. You might even just remove a sharp thorn from the side of the road. Sure, these actions are good at an individual level. You will be rewarded by God for doing that, of course. However, what if you could do that 100 times a day? You could provide 100 times the benefit to society and get rewarded by God 100 times more too.
To do that, you need to scale.
For example, you like to remove thorns from the sidewalk. You can only oversee so many sidewalks in a day. However, if you create robots to do the same thing, you could have the effect of overseeing so many sidewalks in a day. Another example: you might volunteer at an animal shelter and spend the bulk of your time investigating people who might be animal abusers. OR you could have a social media campaign so that people send YOU instances of when THEY see animal abuse on say, twitter! Or if you want to promote a particular agenda that you think will benefit society as a whole, as George Sorros does (not talking about his ideas but what he does with them), rather than speaking yourself, employ people to think and speak for you by hiring and funding a think tank!
To scale, you need power.
What kind of power? Political power? Influential power? Muscle power?
Nope.
Financial power.
With money, you can pay anyone to do anything for you. You can pay them to do work to make you more money, which you can use to scale both your business and your charity efforts, which you can use to fund campaigns and projects that you think deserve to grow. You can alleviate hunger, install water pumps, buy polio vaccinations to give to kids in Pakistan. Don't wait for the government or some other high power to make the world better, you become powerful and make the world better yourself! As Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world".
As a result, I have become obsessed with the concept of making tons of money in order to have the power to do good for the world. Also, becoming a Muslim Iron Man George Sorros would be pretty cool.
EDIT: I'll expand on that last sentence. In the Quran, it says

EDIT: I'll expand on that last sentence. In the Quran, it says
Indeed, [prescribed] charitable offerings are only [to be given] to the poor and the indigent, and to those who work on [administering] it, and to those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to [free] those in bondage, and to the debt-ridden, and for the cause of God, and to the wayfarer. [This is] an obligation from God. And God is all-knowing, all-wise.
– Al-Tawbah, 9:60
The interpretation for "those whose hearts are to be reconciled" is newly converted Muslims and the people who are thinking of converting to Islam. This means the zakat is supposed to be used to almost bribe people into becoming Muslim. This practice today however is looked down upon because you aren't supposed to 'coerce' people into joining your religion, despite the fact that people are 'coerced' to become Christian to be more accepted into the community. It's a bit like international tied aid.
As I said in my Learn Dawah to Learn Game blog post, many of the reasons people become Muslim today are practical reasons. Just like the men who converted to Islam to marry a Muslim woman, others become Muslim because of the amazing community we have, and others might become Muslim to receive zakat. Even in the past, when the Muslims were conquering lands, some people used to convert to Islam to be favored by the elite rulers and others out of devotion and others to receive zakat.
Knowing this, I suggest to Muslims to get RICH and give ZAKAT to those who need it! No need to formally learn dawah if you can use your money to train 100 da'ees and give them salaries or to other causes that need help such as the creation a Muslim illuminati (haha). You could be saving the world and influencing it, a cross between Iron Man and George Sorros.
There you go,
Love,
