Arranged Marriage is for Older Guys

In order to find the best match, you need to expand your networking opportunities. Colleges with a massive student body is a great place to do that, but there are two conditions associated with this. Guys are broke, and everyone is between the ages of 18-22. As a guy, you are in the ideal network, but you are not the ideal male. At least, you look ideal, but your wallet doesn’t. In order to be the ideal male, you must get a job or have money. For most guys, they become the ‘ideal’ when they are past the ages of 18-22 and no longer have official access to their previous 18-22-year-old network. In comes arranged marriages. Arranged marriages do three things,

1.     Expand your network (but nowhere near what it was in college),
2.     Regain access potential partners outside of your peer group (you are approaching 30 but you do not want to marry a 30-year-old),
3.     Get things more serious more quickly

However, girls generally do want to choose their partners and want to have a Romeo-and-Juliet-fairytale. Also, in the West, arranged marriages have a stigma attached to them: they are only for people who can’t attract a partner on their own. Girls in college could sacrifice this fantasy to get access to a higher quality male (Ok, maybe he is balding, but he isn’t broke). Guys, as they get older, turn increasingly to arranged marriage.
